With the World Wrestling Championships just around the corner, India’s elite wrestlers are in high gear for the competition in Belgrade, Serbia. The squad, which includes Olympic medalists Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, is eager to add to their list of accolades.

The Indian wrestling contingent has been training intensively, with a focus on both technical skills and physical conditioning. Bajrang Punia, who recently returned from an injury, expressed optimism about his form. “I’ve been working hard to get back to my best. Competing at the World Championships is a dream, and I want to make my country proud,” he said.

Vinesh Phogat, who has been a trailblazer for women’s wrestling in India, is also looking to make a mark. Having faced tough competitions in the past, she believes that her experience will be beneficial. “Every match is a learning opportunity, and I’m ready to give it my all,” Phogat stated.

The Wrestling Federation of India has also announced that they will provide full support to the athletes, including mental health resources and nutrition plans. This initiative aims to ensure that the wrestlers are well-prepared both physically and mentally.

As the championships approach, fans across the country are rallying behind their wrestlers, hopeful for a strong performance that could inspire the next generation of athletes.
